J&J Maintenance Services was established in 2001. Since then, the business has grown steadily with increased numbers of staff, equipment, comprehensive workshop facilities, a fleet of vehicles all matched with an increased customer base and an increased geographical coverage across the UK.
The business concentrates on two core sectors - Funeral and Mortuary together with Logistics. Both areas require the same high standards provided by the J&J team in repair and servicing, refurbished and new product sales as well as undertaking bespoke engineering projects. In the last two years alone, under Managing Director Mark Abbot ably assisted by Tom French, the Funeral and Mortuary business has expanded some fourfold. Our long-term hope for the company is that, despite this difficult economic climate, we are able to continue to provide a professional and reliable service to our current and prospective customers. We pride ourselves in providing a service that is value for money.
We pride ourselves on providing a “proper, good old fashioned service.” We are committed to bringing our customers a personal, reliable, competitive, efficient service, always endeavouring to respond to breakdowns the same day if not the following day, without any call-out fees.
J&J offers a variety of services to assist in the smooth running of any Funeral Home, Crematorium or Mortuary. Whether it be a bespoke service schedule, the supply of new or second hand equipment or the repair of hydraulic lifts, stretchers, etc., J&J can assist. The client database consists of a large number of independent Funeral Directors and others who collectively form the Co-op and Dignity Funeral Groups. J&J Maintenance Services has a fleet of fully equipped vans that are dedicated to servicing the Funeral, Crematorium and Mortuary sectors. This enables us to respond to breakdowns quickly and effectively.
J&J supplies and maintains distribution equipment for leading supermarket chains in the UK. They have a dedicated team to deal with the supply and repair of all distribution equipment, be it roll cages, pallet trucks or the component parts of the equipment.

A R Twigg & Son was founded in Leeds in 1956. When son Richard joined the business in 1959 the business started to make their own wood coffin handles in a factory in Leeds as cremation was becoming more widespread. At that time the production of coffin biers was also started. In the 70s when the Leeds factory was demolished and the business moved to the village of Calverley outside of the city, the opportunity was taken at that point to phase out woodworking and plastics to focus on what is the current business mainstay of engineering.
In more recent times, with headquarters based in Reading, we manufacture and supply our own range of biers, lifting gear and storage systems to funeral directors, hospitals and crematoria. We supply across the UK and to the Irish Republic. We have also exported to other countries including Hong Kong, South Africa, Australia and Holland among others.
To get the best from your equipment Twigg recommend regular servicing and use of only genuine parts manufactured by ourselves in the UK. Twigg always recommend their customers use J&J Maintenance for all product service requirements. Visit the A R Twigg website
