Armed with the architects internal dimensions of the fridge which was about to undergo modification J&J set about designing some racking. The first consideration was that two 650mm wide trays must be able to be stored side by side to accommodate standard sized bodies. By duplicating this set up for the second shelf it would mean the client would not lose the ability to store standard size trays/bodies. Therefore when there was no requirement to store obese bodies there would be no compromise on storage.

The second consideration was to make sure that the bottom shelf was at the same height as the Mortuary Trolley when it was in the closed position. Therefore it would not cause any Health and Safety issues for the Funeral Director when transferring the deceased in/out of the fridge.

The third consideration was that the racking needed to be strong enough to carry at least 70 stone per shelf without distorting. This has been achieved and the racking has been constructed to use the minimum amount of joints to ensure the overall strength is not compromised. Spare trays can be stored under the racking when not in use so there are no issues of trays being left leaning against the walls causing H&S issues. J&J delivered to the promised timescale and undertook full installation. Our client was delighted with the results.
